Independent Professional Advocacy (IPA)
Statutory advocacy under the Social Services and Wellbeing (Wales) Act 2014
IPA ensures that people with care or support needs can fully participate in decisions about their own lives. When a person has barriers to understanding, retaining, or communicating their wishes during care assessments, care planning, reviews, or safeguarding processes, an independent advocate is there to support them. Advocacy ensures choice, voice and control — contributing directly to well-being outcomes under the Act.
