Who We Help

We are a registered charity providing independent advocacy services across North Wales. We support people who need help to have their voices heard, understand their rights, and take an active role in decisions that affect their health, care, and wellbeing.
Who We Help

Helping People to Speak Up

At NWAAA (North Wales Advice and Advocacy Association), we are an independent charity that has been providing advocacy services across North Wales since 1997. We exist to promote and provide advice and advocacy for people who face disadvantage because of disability, illness, age, mental health needs, learning disabilities, or social exclusion. Our aim is to make sure everyone has the opportunity to have their voice heard, understand their rights, and be involved in decisions that affect their lives.

We help people who may find it difficult to speak up for themselves. We listen carefully to what matters to each individual and support them to express their wishes, feelings, and views. Because we are independent, we are not part of social services, the NHS, or any other organisation involved in making decisions about a person’s care. This means we can provide impartial support and always put the person we are working with first.

Providing Advocacy in a Wide Range of Settings

We provide advocacy in a wide range of health and social care settings, including care planning, safeguarding, mental health services, support for older people, people with learning disabilities, carers, and individuals who need help understanding their rights. We work alongside people to ensure they are treated fairly, receive the services they are entitled to, and are involved in decisions about their future.

Our work is about more than solving immediate problems. We empower people to make informed choices, become more independent, and gain confidence in speaking up for themselves. We also use what we learn from the people we support to encourage improvements in health and social care services, promoting equality, inclusion, and social justice. By working in partnership with individuals and communities, we help ensure that everyone’s voice is valued and respected.
